monsters in the attic

Well, we don't actually have monsters in our attic... but Morgan thinks that we do. Actually, she's pretty positive that they're up there and they're planning to bang their way through the ceiling to get her. Poor angel.

Yesterday JC's friend Tim came over to help with getting electricity hooked up to JC's new workshop. It was so nice of him to come over to help since he works a whole lot and JC is pretty psyched to have a shop with electricity. So, when it came time for JC to climb into our attic to pull some wires there wasn't a lot of thought given to the fact that Morgan was napping... and the fuse box is in her closet. Yes, JC sounded like 20 people in the attic fighting to get out crawling across the house in the attic and when Morgan heard it she let out the most horrible sound. She absolutely freaked out and wouldn't settle down for anything... which I'm sure is due to the fact JC was still up there crawling around while I told her everything was "ok". Poor thing. I put her shoes on and took her to the carport to watch JC climb down in hopes that she would have the realization of "Oh, it's just my silly Daddy". Well, from the way she's acted the past two nights I don't think she's bought it yet. She lays there in the dark holding onto me for dear life staring at the ceiling. She's convinced... there are monsters in the attic. Sigh. Last night JC was able to cuddle with her on the couch for several minutes and then lay her in bed but tonight he wasn't here so she insisted I let her hold my hand until she drifted off into dream land. Hopefully a dream land full of things she loves... like a land of Blues Clues with lots of juice to drink out of straw cups where she has a pet Moose, HaHa... definitely no attic monsters.

This morning I woke to a strange sound. It was the door of our guest bathroom opening. JC was in our master bathroom and Morgan was asleep, or at least I thought she was. I leaped out of the bed to look down the hallway and see her standing in the living room looking around like "where is everyone?" while I looked at her like "How in the world did you get out here??". How did she escape? Well, she laid her Sock Monkey on the floor for a little boost and she opened her door. Yes, it's a great big new world now, she thinks. I was a mixture of "proud Mommy" and "Oh crap!" but it was going to happen eventually and we're ready for it. Her door knob was already turned around because I was tired of her locking me out of her room and having to break into it so tonight we'll just lock the door. :) We'll also be getting the little plastic things to go over the other door knobs. Little stinker. I have to admit... I am pretty proud of her though and me and JC were pretty excited and tried to get her to do it again so we could watch this morning. She's so darn smart! We love it. :)

My Mom has a Dr.'s appointment in town tomorrow so we'll be meeting her for lunch. So excited to see her since we haven't seen her since Christmas. I hope her appointment goes well. Good news would be great! I also hope that Morgan is in a great mood and happy to see her MiMi for lunch after her appointment. :)
